The charity was founded in 1948 as the Marie Curie Memorial Foundation "to attack and allay the disease of cancer and to alleviate the suffering and promote the welfare and relief of persons afflicted with the disease".

Marie Curie Cancer Care is now the UK's largest and most comprehensive cancer care charity. All of our vital services are provided free of charge.
